Applying to study abroad can feel confusing or overwhelming at times. The Center for Global Education offers a number of ways to learn more about study abroad, ask questions, and get one-on-one support. To find step-by-step instructions, visit our Getting Started page.

The Application

This is the Horizons online application database for PC study abroad approval. It’s your first step towards study abroad! The application opens in September after the Study Abroad Fair. Applications and forms for study abroad are due December 1st.

How Do I Apply?

1.  Get your password by clicking on "Retrieve Password." The system will e-mail you a randomly assigned password that will allow you to access the site.

2.  Complete the Study Abroad Quiz and verify your personal information.

3.  Apply for ONE (1) study abroad program. If you want to study abroad for a full year in two different locations you must complete one application for the fall and one for the spring. If you start an application then decide to select another program contact our office at pcabroad@providence.edu or call 401-865-2114.

4.  Complete the application entirely before submitting. The application will include the following documents that must be completed by deadline:

5.  Wait to receive approval from the Center for Global Education.  You will receive email notification of your approval status sometime in February.

**Applicants to the Providence College in Rome and the DIS-Study Abroad in Scandinavia receive both approval and program acceptance in one! You do not need to complete any additional applications after this one.

All other applicants, once approved, must then apply directly to their study abroad program. Check your program provider's website for details on deadlines and how to apply.

Please note: In order to balance the number of students intending to study abroad across the academic year, the College reserves the right to restrict the numbers of students approved to study abroad in any one semester.
